In loving memory

Robert Stanley (Bob) Miller

1956–2018

It's funny how it only takes a lifetime to know a lot about some things. Venturing out into the park across the train line, barefoot and armed with a butterfly net as big as he was, little Robert Miller (Bob) would eventually grow up to become the bearded bushwalker we are all familiar with. With only his observations while bushwalking and reading what little there was available on butterflies, he has, over the years, captured all these wonderful photos and authored the enclosed articles within this publication.

Bob's favourite butterfly was the Sword-tailed Flash (Bindahara phocides yurgama), with its electric-blue patches and long orange tails. It's the butterfly in this site's logo. See his photos of its life cycle.

His photographs

This site is dedicated to Bob's collection of photographs of the life cycles of Australian butterflies: eggs, caterpillars, pupae and adults.

Bob wanted his photographs to be as educational as possible, so they are free for anyone to use, for any purpose, with no restrictions (CC0). If you use one, a credit to Bob Miller is always appreciated.
